6 Month CD Rates | Certificate Of Deposit Rates
Through this site you have heard us speak about long term and short term cd rates. Today the 6 month cd rates come into play. What are the advantages and the disadvantages for this period of bank cd when you are signing up for this one? Let me make it clear that the best cd rates by far are those which offer something for you of value that you really shouldn’t have to second guess. With certificate of deposits as low as they are it really comes down to what bank is willing to offer the highest pay out for the shortest period of time.
The 6 month cd rates currently being offered by most banks lack in that they are low paying. The future is unpredictable, but we do know that cd rates being offered by banks don’t look like thy could go much lower than they already are. Obviously your looking at getting a higher payout on a CD that is for 6 months than for one that is 3 months we can tell you that. As far as how well you get locked in, now that is another story.
Are 6 month cd rates worth it then? Depending on who you are then yes they can be. Remember it all comes down to how long you are willing to wait to see if things will change. If you are satisfied with locking in to a longer term CD then go ahead, but if you want to stick to short term until we get out of an ugly economy then go with a 3 month or 6 month CD.
